Beautiful moody kitchens

I love dark kitchens, especially those that get a lot of natural daylight. There's something about that pale light hitting dark cabinetry and walls, highlighting the undertones and bringing out their richness, that brings me a lot of joy. Makes the interior design bit of my brain do a happy dance.

I adore natural stone flooring, brassy hardware, dark wood countertops, open shelving and grey wash walls that are prevalent in these kinds of kitchens. Those features make a space feel calming and relaxing, ideal for those who spend a lot of time in the kitchen with company and want to make their home feel welcoming. In the evenings, dark kitchens cry out for some candlelight or some dimmed down pendant lighting.

Kitchens are known as the heart of the home so it's important that they are functional and beautiful.

I've picked a few of my favourite kitchens I've come across on Pinterest and Tumblr that demonstrates this moody look best, including a lovely historic kitchen at the end.
