Latest obsession: graphic/slogan tees

Friday, April 27, 2018

Slogan and graphic t-shirts are my new fave thing, they're so effortlessly cool. I've bought so many in the last few months I could probably fill a whole other wardrobe. They add a bit of flair to the plainest of outfits and make me appear as though I've put some actual thought into my look.

Shops are full of these kind of tees at the moment and although some are a bit slapdash (because they're being pumped out at lightning speed to keep up with demand) there are a few that are very much worth your coin.

I thought I'd share a couple of my favourites I've found online. They vary in price, fit, fabric and colour. Enjoy!

Painting buttons & making coffee

Thursday, April 19, 2018

Ignore the gloopy white one, that was a fail.

The last few weeks have been busy but very fun. I didn't think I'd have time to blog this week but I have today off so I'm writing this before my motivation disappears.

My CraftStash order arrived last week so I sat down and painted some of the wooden buttons I bought. I played around with my acrylic paints and some of my super skinny paint brushes and unintentionally created some Mickey Mouse-themed buttons, so I'm planning to either glue some of these together and make a brooch (to join my ever-growing collection) or put them in a picture frame and make some sort of Disney artwork.

I also recently received a little order from LookFantastic - I'm trying a new facial cleanser as my Organic Surge one is running low and I thought I'd try something new for a change (the Organic Surge Face Wash is magnificent, by the way). I bought a 30ml bottle of the DHC Deep Cleansing Oil to try out and I love it. It's weird because to me, cleaning your face with oil sounds like it wouldn't work at all, but this stuff stripped off a full face of make-up in one go. It doesn't leave your skin feeling tight either. Magical.

So between painting buttons and trying out new cleansers, I bagged myself a new job.

I'm back being a barista at the exact same place I used to work, but it's now a different company, different brand, and different owner (new boss!). I'm a lot happier and I get to play around with a brand new coffee machine which I loooove. I'm working with some of my old colleagues and everything is sunshine and rainbows again. Opening day was yesterday and it went really well. Above is the first cappuccino I made on the new machine, topped off with a perfect chocolate heart.

Last week I was also helping set the place up so we spent a few long days unpacking, fitting, decorating, setting up, cleaning, and rearranging. It was knackering but well worth it.

I'm glad for the day off but I'm so excited to get back at it tomorrow.

My 2018 make-up routine & favourite products

Thursday, April 12, 2018

I thought it was about time I updated my make-up routine seeing as it looks so different a year on. I use a lot more make-up than I used to; I have discovered the wonders of setting sprays, BB creams, and brow powders, and my make-up brush collection has grown a little. Nothing here is too expensive, but I did get a make-over in MAC when I last went to York which explains the abundance of MAC products I have. Everything else is very affordable and available to purchase fairly easily on the web.

Hope you enjoy the post!

RIP Polyvore

Sunday, April 08, 2018

As some of you may or may not know, Polyvore (popular for its virtual mood board function) was recently acquired by SSENSE, much to the internet's disdain. Polyvore was immediately shut down with no warning whatsoever, which is why everyone is real mad about the whole thing.

If you have a Polyvore account, the site gives you the option of downloading all the sets you've created among other things such as comments and likes. I'm glad they're offering this because it would've been gutting if Polyvore had just disappeared out of the blue and took all our hard work along with it. It's still not ideal - many people will lose contact with friends they've met on the site and from what it seems, our perfectly curated collections are a goner. BUT it's something, I guess.

So to celebrate Polyvore's long and fruitful life, I wanted to show you guys some of the sets I've created during my time on

Angel Delight and Chilworth Street

↳ Golden Slumbers and Rosy Cheeks

↳ Amalfi Coast and Miami Romance

Make-up talk & a crafty thing

Thursday, April 05, 2018

My ma and I went to Chesterfield yesterday. Despite the on-and-off rain, we had a nice few hours wandering around a couple of shops and having lunch at our favourite Peacocks Coffee Lounge

First on my to-do list was to return a L'Oreal concealer (I couldn't have got the shade more wrong if I'd tried) then pick up the Maybelline Fit Me! concealer in the shade Ivory instead (I've heard positive things). It's nice so far, very creamy.

My skin is actually behaving very well lately. My spots are fading and I can get away with just wearing a BB cream more often instead of piling on the foundation. I prefer wearing a BB cream anyway, it feels lighter on my skin and I love the natural finish. I'm absolutely in love with the BB cream by GOSH in the shade Sand, it evens out my skin tone so beautifully. I really want the Glossier Skin Tint but I want to use up my GOSH one before I try something else. I'm trying to be frugal now I'm jobless (sob) but it's proving very difficult...

I also recently ordered some things from eBay - a little tester pot of the NARS Sheer Glow foundation in the shade Siberia (LOL it's practically the colour of snow, I'm obsessed), the most gorgeous lilac floral tissue box cover (because I'm extra), some reusable beeswax food wraps (read more about those here), and a replacement filter for my Bobble bottle (a lifesaver when your tap water tastes like straight up chemicals). So I have a fair few parcels coming my way in the next few days.

Ya girl has no self control.

In other news, I made another brooch!

5 favourite fragrances

Wednesday, April 04, 2018

Hi! Today I thought I'd share some of my favourite perfumes from my ever-growing fragrance collection. I've included links to the product and a brief description of each scent. Enjoy!

Blackberry & Bay from Jo Malone — For me this scent makes me think of balmy, summer evenings and posh bubbly.
“Childhood memories of blackberry picking... A burst of deep, tart blackberry juice, blending with the freshness of just-gathered bay and brambly woods. Vibrant and verdant.”

Coco Mademoiselle from Chanel — A classic. So punchy and youthful.
“An oriental fragrance, a spirited and voluptuous scent. Sparks of fresh and vibrant orange immediately awaken the senses. A clear and sensual heart reveals the transparent accords of jasmine and rose. Finally, the trail unfurls with vibrant accents of Patchouli and Vetiver.”

Velvet Orchid from Tom Ford — Dark and dramatic, my favourite scent to wear if I'm going out.
“An oriental floral that evolves the carnal grandeur and seductive power of the iconic Tom Ford Black Orchid into an uber-feminine fragrance lavished with notes of cool citrus, dramatic petals, honey and rum.”
