Snow and more snow in York

York, UK

On Wednesday my ma and I headed up to Ye Olde York for three days. Three days turned into two as the Beast from the East swept the nation and nearly snowed us into our B&B. We decided to leave a day early to avoid any more heavy snowfall and road closures. Better to be safe than sorry!

The wind yesterday was unbearable, with every gust it felt like a hundred knives slicing at your cheeks. I kept laughing because I couldn't quite believe how cold it was. I swear it was colder yesterday in York than it was when I was standing at the top of Edinburgh Castle this time three years ago, and Edinburgh was beyond freezing.

We were in York to celebrate my birthday - which is today! I was supposed to wake up this morning in our B&B but instead I woke up in my own cosy blanket-topped bed which I'm not mad about. It's still blustery and icy cold outside so I'm spending the day in my pyjamas, coconut oil all over my hair (to repair the wind damage), Hotel Chocolat caramel chocolate next to me, and Absolute Radio playing in the background. So far so good.

Anyway, back to York...

I promised lots of photos in my last blog post, but unfortunately the snow kind of scuppered that. I took a few, but not nearly as many as I had hoped.

I did a lot of shopping, not that that will surprise anyone. I bagged some goodies from Primark, H&M, New LookFat Face, Zara, and MAC. I was given a lovely makeover in Fenwick at the MAC counter which resulted in me falling in love with a lot of products and walking out swinging a not-so-little black bag. May write a separate post about my MAC haul because I'm so excited about it.

Although the trip was cut short, I had such a good time. I've never seen York under this much snow so it was lovely to experience, despite my feet, legs, face, and hands being completely numb the whole time.

Hope you have a great weekend!
