DIY button brooches

Tuesday, March 20, 2018

In the latest issue of Country Living there's a little free booklet that comes with it called My Vintage Style Sourcebook that is filled with craft projects, courses, and where you can find any local vintage/craft shops and fairs. I flicked through it and came across a section on how to make your own flower brooches using buttons.

I figured I'd give it a go as I know my mum has some brooch backs and lots of spare buttons lying around.

I managed to do this DIY in about half an hour. It's very easy and very fun, you only need three things (buttons, brooch backs, glue) and you can probably find everything you need in Hobbycraft or your local craft shop/haberdashery/market stall.

Here's the result...

I'm so pleased with how these turned out! The brooches in the booklet look a lot different (they're slightly more ~classy~ and vintage) but I wanted to push the boat out and make something more bold and bright. I made one brooch for myself and one for my mum and now I think this is my new favourite hobby.

Let me know if you give this a try. If you want to get your hands on the craft booklet, pick up the newest issue of Country Living. There are some other cool DIYs in there that you might like.
