Steam trains & sea views in Norfolk

Norfolk was wonderful as always. I had a great time hanging out with my dad for a couple of days and getting to see some gorgeous North Norfolk sights.

On Wednesday morning we walked to Cromer and sat by the coast to watch the Red Arrows perform. It was incredible, probably the highlight of my trip. I managed to take some semi-decent shots of the planes with my phone.

Afterwards we caught a taxi to Sheringham and took the NNR to Holt - last time I visited, my dad really wanted to take me on the steam train but it wasn't running in January (typical) so I was really looking forward to it this time. We landed in Holt and caught an old London Routemaster bus to the town centre. We spent some time wandering around all the cute boutique shops then caught the bus back to the station. In the evening we had dinner at the Red Lion and then set off home.

On Thursday we headed into Norwich to do some shopping. I bought some Sketchers (my feet were so, so grateful) and two more Pop! figures from my favourite shop in Norwich - the Television and Movie Store, opposite The Forum. We had a quick lunch in Nero's then got the train back to Cromer in time to watch the NNBR host a fun run along the coast as part of the Cromer Carnival. I got some awesome shots of the sea and Cromer pier while I was there.

Friday was a little more relaxed - in fact we didn't do a great deal because the weather was naff and my dad had some errands to run, so we drove into Sheringham and had lunch at The Kitchen before heading back to the house for a few hours to watch the Olympics. I got my train home at 5 and was in bed by 8(!) 💤💤💤

It was a fab trip. I love being by the sea, nothing makes you feel so satisfyingly sleepy than a gorgeous salty sea breeze. I miss the coast already!

Hope you've all had a great week - I'm back to work today which feels really odd, I'm definitely not in work-mode yet at all. Those holiday blues are in full force this morning. Plus it's raining, so yeah. That says it all, really.
